Durga Pujo Workshops
October 13th, 19th & 20th
We are hosting workshops at a few NJ and NY durga pujos including Kallol, ECCA, GSCA, and Maitree.
The first workshop we’re holding is Durga Pujo Bingo where kids will be able to learn the story of Durga Pujo in a way that is entertaining and easy to understand. They’ll also play bingo while listening to the story.
The 2nd workshop is “Lokera Ki Bolbe” with touches on how certain issues affect Bengali-Americans uniquely such as career and academic pressures and mental health.

Jackson Heights Food Crawl

Theres no where in NYC with more bengali culture than Jackson Heights in Queens. We held a food crawl to try everything from shingara and chop, fuchka, cha, momos, biriyani and ended the day with paan.
NextGen Picnic
September 15th, 2024
We had a picnic in the park and soak up some sun with our Bengali next gen community! We had a great book club discussion, played games and had an amazing time catching up with both known and new faces.

Banga NextGen celebrated the Bengali New Year! It was a day filled with cultural performances, arts and crafts activities, delicious food, and local NextGen vendors. The event tool place at Tagore Hall in Somerset, NJ. We were happy to immerse ourselves in the rich traditions of Bengali culture and welcome the new year with joy and happiness with community members of all ages.
Revolution Remix

We are hosted a group to attend “Revolution Remix”, a guided 1.5-mile tour through historic Philadelphia through the lens of South Asian American history hosted by The South Asian American Digital Archive (SAADA). It is a 2.5-hour interactive experience starting at the Liberty Bell and ending at Race Street Pier. The tour is a fascinating way to learn about our heritage with little-known facts and stories about South Asian diaspora.
Public Obscenities
February 24th, 2024
We held a group viewing of “Public Obscenities” in Brooklyn, NY on the 24th at 2pm.
“Public Obscenities” is a bilingual (Bangla and English) play about the things we see, the things we miss, and also the things that we don’t usually talk about with our families. It explores the pleasures and pitfalls of living in translation as it follows a queer studies PhD student returning to his family home in Kolkata with his Black American boyfriend.
Amar Bhasha, Amar Utshob
February 10 & February 25, 2024
We held our first “Amar Bhasha, Amar Utshob” workshop at Somerset Bengali Association’s Saraswati Pujo on February 10th and Maitree Association of America’s Saraswati Pujo on Sunday, Feb 25th. We had a room full of curious kids learning about Ekushe February, Bangla’s history, impact, arts and culture! We also wrote our names and favorite words in Bangla and shared some laughs with a tongue twister contest
Amar Shohor America at GSCA Durga Pujo

Immerse yourself into the coming-of-age journey of a young Bengali woman in lens of her love for the arts. Hailing from Bengal and coming to New York City for her collegiate studies, she explores the stark contrast of the two worlds she has experienced, from her childhood home in Bengal to her adopted home in NYC, realizing what home truly means along the way. This event has been written and directed by NextGen Leads Shankhadip Chakraborty and Aratrika Dey, both students of Smt. Mitali Bhawmik.
